GOWER, Mo. (W1N) — East Buchanan and West Platte are set to face off in a KCI Conference clash as the Bulldogs host their Homecoming.
Class 2 No. 14 East Buchanan (5-1, 4-0) moved up one spot in our rankings following a 10-7 victory over Penney last week.
No. 18 West Platte (2-4, 1-2) fell seven spots in our Class 1 rankings after a 34-15 loss to Lawson in Week 6.
This matchup has major implications for the conference standings. If East Buchanan wins, the Bulldogs will set up a de facto conference championship game with Mid-Buchanan, provided the Dragons defeat North Platte and Penney. The Bulldogs would clinch at least a share of the conference title if Mid-Buchanan loses one of those games. A West Platte victory would spoil Homecoming and prevent East Buchanan from securing the title outright unless the Dragons lose.
The Bulldogs are on an 18-game winning streak against the BlueJays. The last time West Platte defeated East Buchanan was during the 2010 regular season.
Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. Friday at East Buchanan High School. Weston 1 News will provide game updates on X.
